Located along the River Esk, Whitehall 1 is a homely and unique place to stay in the nostalgic seaside town of Whitby. Ideal for couples or friends looking for a break on the North Yorkshire coast, Whitehall 1 provides the perfect base whilst you explore the town. The apartment gives you the best of both worlds – discover the quieter side of Whitby with the main tourist hotspots still only a short walk away. Whitehall Landing has adopted specific Covid-19 measures to help save lives and keep people safe. These measures include hand sanitisers in public areas and social distancing signage throughout the buildings and grounds. Please note during these uncertain times, the arrival time at Whitehall 1 has been amended to allow the caretaker to carry out extra cleaning measures and your holiday home to be aired. Check in is from 5pm and we ask that you vacate Whitehall 1 no later than 10am on your day of departure to give us plenty of time to get it ready for the next guests. The Space: Whitehall 1 is a vibrant and colourful space with lots of character. Located within a new development, the apartment is bright and airy. The large open plan kitchen, dining area and living room is perfect for relaxing and enjoying quality time with your friends or loved one. The modern and quirky room features a comfy corner sofa and a flat screen TV. There are books to borrow and swap and a pair of binoculars to borrow too! Artwork of Whitby proudly adorns the walls and light floods in from the two large windows. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped for your stay. You’ll find a fridge, oven, dishwasher, kettle and microwave so you have everything you could need for a self-catering break on the coast. Head along the hallway and you’ll enter the bedroom. In here, you’ll find a statement black iron kingsize bed and a modern open wardrobe. A patterned rug and blue bench add pops of colour in the calming space. The bathroom features a bath and overhead shower. Guest Access: Guests have access to the full apartment. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. The property has one private car parking space. Interaction with Guests: We’re always available for our guests so please don’t hesitate to get in touch. The Neighborhood: Whitehall 1 sits along the River Esk in the dock area. Walk along Church Street and you’ll wind up at the East bank where you’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Walk over the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk and you’ll find yourself at the West side of town. It’s here you can discover cosy pubs, fun arcades and even more fish restaurants! Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks. Getting Around: The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from Whitehall 1. Whitby train station is less than a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
