Coopers Rock State Park is the perfect destination for birding, camping, hiking or just plain relaxing and enjoying the unsurpassed natural beauty.
Cast a line at Messinger Lake and see what you can catch or hike and bike on nearly 50 miles of trails through the park. The Henry Clay Iron Furnace Trail, takes you on a trip back in time to find a huge stone structure used for producing iron in the 1800s, located in a grassy glade in an otherwise undisturbed forest. More amazing views and discoveries are found along various trails in the forest.
Hunters are welcome here! Properly licensed individuals are welcome to hunt in-season (in specified areas of Coopers Rock State Forest). No hunting zones surround all forest recreational facilities.
This campsite is equipped with a pre-set sturdy canvas tent on its own wooden deck platform. The tent is furnished with a queen-size memory foam mattress and side tables. A picnic table, fire pit with a grill, a solar shower, and portable camp loo are also provided, and campers are able to use the park's restroom facilities as well. There is an additional pop-up tent provided for extra guests, but you will have to bring your own air mattresses/sleeping pads for this tent.
The Space:
About 1/2 of a mile from thee Clay Furnace Trailhead Parking Lot, this furnished campsite is surrounded by the beautiful hardwood forest. The site is only a short distance to a connecting trail that leads to a rock climbing area locals lover in addition to miles of mountain biking and hiking opportunities!
Guest Access:
Please note that the campsite is hike-in only and about 5-10 minutes from the parking area.
Other Things to Note:
Be sure to bring your own food, firewood and bedding. There is no electricity available at your Tentrr site. Anything you pack in, you must pack out. All trash MUST be deposited in a designated receptacle at the end of your stay. If you do not follow this rule, you will be charged a cleaning fee. Please beware that there are rattlesnakes, bears and other forest dwellers in this area. They are important members of the natural community, so we ask that you give them distance and respect for the safety of all. Have a wonderful stay!
