Barban is a small historic town on a plateau separating Labin from Puljština. The ancient Romans lived on a prehistoric hill. Throughout history, Barban was known for its strategic location, which dominated the highlands and dominated the valley and the bridge over the Rasa. In 1535, the Venetian noble family Loredan bought it from the Counts of Pazin, whose members, although they occasionally visited Barban, represented by the captain, demolished the old castle and in the same place a plaque and the parish church of Sv. Nicholas.
