A very special, Greek Revival, historic 4-bedroom house with luxurious modern features and no visible neighbors situated on 115 acres of sugar maple forest woodland.
The Harpersfield/Stamford residence of Colonel John Harper - the town's founding namesake. In the front hallway, wall murals by LaMont Warner adorn the walls. The rest of the house is filled with touches of luxury (sauna, clawfoot bathtub, baby grand piano), history (wide plank floors, Mission style furniture and adornments), and all modern conveniences (washer dryer, dishwasher, fiber high-speed WiFi). Two luxurious bathrooms (one with a custom cedar sauna), a home office with standing desk, 4 bedrooms, an oversized living room and a full kitchen with all you could want to make a gourmet meal.
The house is situated 115+ acres of woods with logging trails to roam. Minutes to the convenient town of Stamford and situated within all the Catskills has to offer (hiking, skiing, cycling, food-tasting, hunting, mountain/rock climbing, bird watching, wild life sighting). Minutes to the book village Hobart and Bovina (Brushland Eating House & Bovina Fermentory).
Room Details
The living room features a working wood-burning fireplace (firewood stacked just outside), two chesterfield sofas and a baby grand piano for your enjoyment. There is also a downstairs home office for your use along with a full bath featuring a clawfoot tub, heated floors, and standup shower.
Second floor features 4 bedrooms with original old growth wide-plank pine floors, bringing history into the sleeping spaces.
Large primary bedroom with a bonus yoga room/study attached, including a peloton bike and windows overlooking the property.
Bedroom #2 is also large featuring handmade mission furniture.
Bedrooms #3 and #4 are smaller (1 has a Queen bed - the other has a full bed). Both include new Casper mattresses and antique rugs, lamps and furnishings.
Walls are adorned in hand-stirred venetian plaster installed and decorated by a local artist.
Outside, a large bluestone patio includes a Webber grill, a fire pit, and a sugar-maple forested mountain with private logging trials to hike. Wild blackberries throughout the property are available for your pleasure.

This area is a historic agricultural district with many working dairy farms (one organic farm just up the road!) and working pastures which makes for an authentic experience! This farmhouse is also a working sugar maple farm - trees are tapped every February.
