Nestled in the quaint village of Tywardreath, up a quiet no through lane that leads to open countryside, Pebble Cottage is a delightful, two large bedroomed cottage dating back to 1860. This cottage was refurbished throughout in 2019 and is furnished and equipped to a good standard. It is perfect for couples and families and their four-legged friends. The sunny, enclosed and flat rear courtyard garden has a table, chairs and barbecue, is perfect for fine weather and makes a quiet, relaxing area to plan your next day’s activities. Tywardreath lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and has a fantastic friendly gastro pub, plus an award-winning butchers and the unlikely combination of a fish and chip/wonderful Thai food takeaway, which is run by a local Thai family. Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with a kingsize bed and a useful single bed. There is also a roomy shower room/toilet with an extra large shower cubicle. Downstairs leading off from the hallway, the cottage boasts a cosy and sunny living room with fireplace and electric wood burner and the spacious, well-equipped kitchen/dining room is perfect for entertaining and spending time with family and friends. There is also a separate utility room with washing machine and lots of toys and games for the children which leads out onto the rear garden. For those staying with babies and young children, a highchair, travel cot and mattress, stairgates and other bits and bobs are all available to save space in your car, and if you have a dog we can provide a dog bed, towels and bowls. In addition there are body boards, a sit on kayak and bouyancy aids available to borrow but you will need to bring your own roof rack! Pebble Cottage is situated on the All Saints Way, an ancient pilgrims’ footpath leading to Fowey in one direction and Padstow the other. A 20-minute or so walk through the village and across fields takes you down to the long, sandy and all year dog-friendly Par Sands Beach. From here you can also pick up the South West Coast Path and enjoy some magnificent walks past Polkerris Beach with its pub, great restaurant and water sports, and around the beautiful Menabilly Peninsula (Daphne du Maurier country), with its dramatic cliff top views and secluded coves, to Fowey and beyond. Pebble Cottage is well served and very convenient with shops, a post office, fishmonger/greengrocer and pubs/bars in Par, just a couple of minutes’ drive or 15-minute walk away. A butchers shop is situated just around the corner which also sells bread, milk and a few other essentials. A 10-minute walk will also take you to Par station with its connections to London, Newquay and the rest of Cornwall and to the steam train at Bodmin. The popular harbour town of Fowey, with it’s quaint shops and tea rooms, is just 3 miles and a 10-minute drive away, and the cottage is situated on the bus route to Fowey one way and Mevagissey the other, should you wish to leave the car at home. The larger supermarkets and banks of St Austell are just a short 10-minute drive away. Many of Cornwall’s landmark attractions are a very short drive away – The Eden Project is under 10 minutes, The Lost Gardens of Heligan is 25 minutes, The National Trust Lanhydrock House is 20 minutes and Charlestown (as featured in ‘Poldark’ and ‘Taboo’) is 10 minutes. Padstow and the North Coast are approximately 30 minutes away. There is an abundance of useful information in the cottage, plus the owners live in the village and are always available if you need help or advice on where to go and what to do.
