Fosdyke Cottage has been renovated to a very good standard and tastefully decorated throughout, providing an excellent base for couples and families looking for a coastal and countryside escape. The cottage is set in the small, coastal, village community of Skinningrove, located on the Cleveland Way in between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Staithes, where the Yorkshire Moors meet the North Sea. Step outside the front door and you’re literally on the Cleveland Way, which offers some amazing coastal walks all along the stunning Yorkshire Heritage Coastline. There is even a wood burner in the living room to warm you up after a winter’s walk, or in summer, the lovely little sitting-out area is perfect for catching a bit of sunshine.
The cottage is 300 yards from two beaches, one of which features in the top twenty hidden beaches in the UK with sand dunes and golden sand. The beaches form part of the Heritage Coast with stunning walks across the highest cliff in eastern England. Amenities in the village include a local store and just 5 minutes walk away is a friendly pub/restaurant. A must to visit is the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn just 8 minutes by car or 1½ hours walking along the cliff top, where you can find an abundance of coffee bars, bistros and a Michelin star restaurant. The beach at Saltburn has a surfing school with equipment for hire. The wonderful fishing town of Whitby is only 12 miles away. So you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of this historic town. Events and festivals such as goth weekends and Whitby Regatta are annual events not to be missed. Captain Cook’s ship the Endeavor is definitely worth a visit. Head inland and explore the North York Moors National Park. Pretty villages such as Grosmont and Goathland are a short drive away. For a different experience why not catch the steam train to Heartbeat country. Beach 10 yards. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 400 yards.
