Positive: What I liked most about this hotel was, hands down, the staff, in particular the two receptionists! When I arrived, I realized I had forgotten some items on the plane and at home. The staff immediately helped me with this! The male receptionist (unfortunately I don’t know his name) ordered a universal adapter for me right away, which was delivered in just 40 minutes. In the meantime, he kindly lent me his own power bank so I could charge my phone until the adapter arrived. And then there was XiaoXiao: a real gem! Without exaggeration; she spent at least 3 hours calling the airport, the delivery guy, and several other contacts to help me retrieve my belongings that were left on the plane. Eventually she managed to have my items delivered to my next stay in Datong. So thanks to her i got everything that was lost back. I could go to her for every question I had. She even shared her food with me haha. At the end she gave me a cute Beijing magnet as a souvenir. Xiaoxiao to you and your colleague: thanks again for helping me out and showing kindness, I deeply appreciated it! As for the hotel itself: the location is great. You can get anywhere by metro or bus if you use the Amap app (highly recommend downloading it, it makes traveling around much easier, and you won’t need to rely on taxis all the time).
Negative: - The bed and pillows were a bit hard. I did ask for another pillow, which I received (again thanks to Xiaoxiao haha). That one was much better. - If you book an activity through the hotel, make sure to ask exactly what’s included. For example: I paid 300 yuan (~€37) for a trip to the Great Wall, assuming everything was covered. On the bus, I was surprised to find out that I had to pay an additional 360 yuan (~€45). That was really frustrating, as I could have booked through GetYourGuide for half the price. Furthermore, I think the payment of the additional 360 yuan was handled unfairly. I had, among other things, paid for the slide, but it was apparently closed due to the weather. I’m not entirely sure, but it seems logical that a guide checks the weather before selling tickets. So if if was checked and they knew, than nothing wad said. I bought the tickets without knowing it would rain (so check yourself before going). When I asked for a refund (~€15), I was told no, because going down the slide would be replaced by the cable car, which didn’t make any sense, as we had already paid separately for both (140 yuan cable car, 140 yuan slide, 80 yuan food). So, the process of the booked activity was the only thing I was not so happy about (the Wall of course was awesome), but I think that one is more on the tour guide and the tour organizer, and not so much on the hotel. You can still book through the hotel if you want, but ask clearly what’s included and watch out for hidden costs.
