Local Area – Derrynane & CaherdanielThe village of Caherdaniel, named after the Irish patriot Daniel O'Connell, is 2.5 km away and has good pubs serving delicious homecooked food. The Blind Piper pub in the village provides excellent food and drinks. Both a nice outdoor area and the restaurant area are available here, although it is recommended that you make reservations in advance to dine inside. They also provide takeout if you choose. Additionally, Carroll's Cove Beach Bar has an outside area where you may eat and drink without needing a seat; you can just stand outside. The Kerry Way a marked walking trail runs through this village.
Derrynane House has a fantastic cafe/tea room called Ahamore Tea Rooms, where you may sit outside. For the younger kids, there is a great fairy trail here in the garden area behind the cafe. The closest major store is the Centra store in Waterville, although there is a store at Wave Crest which is 4.3km from Derrynane Beg Holiday Home that provides all the essentials. The pizza van at the Wave Crest Shop, which is open from 5 to 9 p.m. but closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, makes delicious pizza.
Close by at Derrynane beach you will find a selection of water sports and horse-riding. This area is also popular with golfers with Waterville (1.8km) and Kenmare (48km) within easy reach. Nearby is the Derrynane Abbey & Burial Ground, which you can access via Derrynane beach.

Derrynane Beg Holiday Home - Pet Friendly Holiday Home Derrynane Beg Holiday Home accepts 1 dog on request only. Your pet must be kept on the ground floor at all times. Please note the garden is not secure. There is a maximum of 1 dog per booking at a charge of €30 payable to the property manager on site. Please reserve at the time of booking, as your dog will not be accepted without prior confirmation

IMPORTANT NOTES1. Heating and Electricity:
This is an extra charge which is mostly payable to the Property Manager/Owner. In some cases, energy is charged at a fixed daily rate or a rate per unit on the units consumed or you are required to top up a Pre-Paid Meter while in others, energy charges are included in the rate you have paid. We advise you to check with the local Owner/ Property Manager prior to arrival how this is calculated or prior to making the booking.
2. Security Deposit:
A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival or at others it is taken on arrival. In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.
