In summer, explore the beautiful waters of Fawn Lake on your watercraft. And though the walk down to the lake’s beach is a bit steep, views on the wrap-around deck are stunning. There is a close public access to easily partake in winter activities, too.

The Space:
Family Roots Cottage is a unique, 950 square foot cottage with 2 bedrooms and 1 ½ bathrooms. The fully equipped kitchen has a peninsula with seating for two and a comfortable dining room with seating for 4. There is plenty of space to make family dinners, bake cookies, or play board games.
The living room boasts a smart TV to stream your favorite movies and shows or relax with a glass of wine in front of the stunning wood-burning fireplace with original mantle. Sink into the comfy couch with a cup of coffee or a great book. The stylish futon transforms into a bed for 2. Note: Some sites may list the futon as a sofabed.
You’ll fall in love with the views of Fawn Lake from the large, sliding glass door that leads out to the wrap-around deck with panoramic lake views. The cottage sits on hill overlooking the beach. And while the hill is steep, the views are breathtaking.
In summer, the dock is available for jumping into the lake, or docking your boat, kayaks, or paddleboards. There is a public access nearby. In winter, we recommend entering the lake from that public access, as the stairs to the beach are not shoveled.
The cozy bedrooms sleep 6 on comfy mattresses and soft sheets. The master bedroom has a connecting bathroom with a sink and toilet. The main bathroom has a sink with vanity, toilet, and shower with tub for bubble baths and rubber ducks.
The ultimate family-friendly feature is the washer and dryer. It is located in the basement, so we’ve added a childproof door handle. The steps to the basement are steep, so we urge caution to those with bad knees or mobility issues.
And, to keep the cottage family-friendly for years of memory-making, there is no smoking in the cabin, no partying, and no pets allowed.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access of the cottage, private beach, dock, and 1.3 acres of secluded woods. The detached garage is not accessible. We have on online guestbook and will provide you will all the information you will need to prepare for your stay.

Family roots Cottage is just outside of historic Nisswa MN! Ideally located in the heart of Central MN vacation land, This round cabin provides endless opportunities for entertainment. Other Things to Note:
While we created a cottage that is perfect for families with small children, we urge caution when using the wood-burning fireplace. Also, the steps to the basement are steep and we do not recommend children play on or climb them.
The property can hold up to 8 guests, but please keep in mind the two beds are in one room and the additional bed is a futon that turns into a full size bed.
**The detached garage is not accessible. Use of the washer and dryer requires guests to stay 4+ nights and includes steep steps into the basement.

Cleaning Fees & Stocking:
We have the highest quality professional housekeepers in the area. They wash all bed linens off site. Towels are also provided. Best of all, they use a line of ecofriendly toxic free cleaners. They also stock the following items: Shampoo, conditioner, liquid hand soap, individual bar soap, toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, garbage bags, trash bags, laundry soap, dish soap, dishwasher tabs, sponges, and propane.
