Aughrim Holiday Village is situated in the beautiful village of Aughrim, a very scenic area near where the Ow and Derry Rivers meet in County Wicklow. Our cluster of pretty riverside holiday homes in Aughrim are beautifully maintained and set in a private cul-de-sac. Guests have the added bonus of being within walking distance to the local shops, cafes, take-aways and restaurants in this pretty village.
Aughrim Holiday Village - DescriptionUpon entering this countryside development, you can't help but admire the beautiful gardens and pretty exterior of these holiday homes. Enter the holiday accommodation via a small porch into a bright and welcoming hall.
Located on the ground floor of this self-catering holiday accommodation is an open plan kitchen and dining room area. The kitchen is fully equipped providing all the essentials you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday in Ireland. French doors lead out to a rear patio and garden ideal for outside dining and kids' games. There is a spacious separate sitting room where guests can relax and watch TV and an additional guest bathroom located on the ground floor.

About Aughrim VillageIn this charming and neat village there are a number of unusual granite terraced houses and pretty cottages. Interesting buildings include a riverside forge and town hall - at the request of the Earl of Meath. Aughrim was once a granite mining village, and this material is widely used, giving the village a distinctive and coherent architecture.
There is a children's playground beside the fishing park in Aughrim, a 5 minute walk across the river from Aughrim Holiday Village. There is also another playground located in the pretty village of Annacurra 1 mile from our holiday homes.
There are a variety of activities such a fishing, making Aughrim Holiday Village a great base for a fishing holiday in Ireland. The National Angling Centre is located in the village and only an 8-minute walk from our holiday accommodation, known as a "Fishing for All" a put and take fishing lake in Aughrim. The fantastic facility consists of a 4-acre lake within an 8-acre riverside park with panoramic views overlooking the surrounding Wicklow hills, offering a fun day out for all. You can arrange to bring your own fishing rods and bait or alternatively you can hire rods and purchase bait at the facility.
In addition, there is a pleasant 4km riverside and woodland walk call the Sea Linehan Way which starts at Tinakilly Bridge. It follows the Ballycreen Brook from Aughrim village deep into the Tinakilly Woods. Alder, Oak, Birch and Sycamore trees grace the riverbanks while wild-life to watch out for include dippers, wrens and stoats. And just south west of our holiday accommodation in Aughrim is the Ciaran Shannon Way which can be accessed via the Rednagh Road or by parking at Annacurragh village.
The village is also home to the county grounds of the Wicklow County Gaelic Athletic Association team. Plus, golfers can enjoy a round of golf locally at the Paul McGinley designed golf course nearby at Macreddin. Other top golf courses in Wicklow includes Druids Glen, The European Club, Powerscourt Golf Club and the Wooden Bridge Golf Club to name but a few.
Local wedding venues in Wicklow include Ballybeg House and The BrookLodge & Wells Spa Hotel at Macreddin Village. Wedding guests can base themselves in our village accommodation yet easily reach these two beautiful venues in 6 – 8 minutes.
Things to do in WicklowCounty Wicklow borders counties Wexford, Carlow, Kildare and Dublin, known as the Garden of Ireland this scenic county is situated on the east coast of Ireland. The county consists of spectacular mountains, a pretty coastline along the Irish Sea, country estates and the much-loved Wicklow Way.
The popular blue flag beach of Brittas Bay is a 20-minute drive away, a wonderful base for a great family day out in Wicklow. This 4 km sandy beach is very popular and one of the most frequented beaches south of the capital during the summer.
Glendalough is one of the top visitor attractions on Ireland's Ancient East, a 29-minute drive from Aughrim Holiday Village. This is one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. This early Christian monastic settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and from this developed the "Monastic City". Another top attraction is Powerscourt Estate, located in the pretty village of Enniskerry. This is a large country estate which is noted for its house and award-winning landscaped gardens, today occupying 19 hectares. Enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat at the Powerscourt Avoca Café, which must have one of the best views in Ireland across to the Great Sugar Loaf.
For another fantastic fun day out to Splash Valley, an aqua-park located in Hidden Valley Holiday Park in Rathdrum, Wicklow. The 1,800-square-metre park includes some 30 obstacles arranged around a small, manmade lake. Splash Valley is open to day-visitors, with hour-long slots available.
Clara Lara Fun Park offers another unique outdoor experience, a healthy fun day out for families and groups of children. Located on 30 acres of beautiful countryside in the Avonmore River valley with tree houses, Tarzan swings, rope bridges, rowing boats, water slides, rafts, canoes and junior go-carts. You will love the breath-taking aqua shuttle - the biggest water slide in Ireland. Other activities include mini golf, miles of hill walking through the spectacular countryside and a junior playground. There is a picnic restaurant which services a range of hot and cold food and an extensive riverside picnic area with barbecues. Clara Lara Fun Park is the ultimate escape to the wilderness.
Walking the Wicklow WayAughrim is a popular tourist venue for walkers therefore a great base for a walking holiday in Ireland. Aughrim is the nearest town for those finishing a Wicklow Way stage at Iron Bridge in the Ow River Valley. The Wicklow Way is a very popular and spectacular walking trail with wonderful unspoilt forest and mountain trails. In fact, the Wicklow Way was the first such trail in Ireland having been formally established in 1980. This enchanting route is 129 km long and crosses the Wicklow Mountains National Park, within the park are glacial lakes, rivers and Glendalough.
Although it feels beautifully rural, Aughrim is only 70-minutes drive from Dublin city centre, making Aughrim a wonderful holiday destination at any time of the year.
