Welcome to Hay Creek Cabin, a beautiful, comfy, year-round cabin located on the northeast side of the world-famous Chippewa Flowage, a sprawling, 15,000-acre lake with more than 140 islands (Wisconsin’s third largest inland lake).
This three-bedroom, three-bath cabin (or cottage as we say in Wisconsin) is located on a secluded, wooded, two-acre lakeshore lot facing west, offering spectacular views of the setting sun and water from the cabin’s deck or dock. The cabin is located on Hay Creek, a slow, winding river that is part of the Chippewa Flowage, which is known as the home to the current world-record musky caught by Louis Spray many years ago (for those in the know, the Big Chip also is known for its exceptional walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and crappie fishing, too). The lake offers numerous campsites and is surrounded by the Chequamegan National Forest, making it feel like you're up in Canada (very few houses on the lake). Hay Creek Cabin is just minutes to miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails, cross- country ski trails (including the world famous Birkebeiner Trail), mountain biking trails (single track and the Birkie Trail), and deer, bear, wild turkey and ruffed grouse hunting.
Hay Creek is a comfortable, 2,500-square foot lake home where you can hang with the guys after a great day of fishing, hunting or mountain biking; enjoy a long Women's Weekend retreat with your girlfriends; or get cozy with your sweetheart after a day on one of the many x-country skiing trails.
Hay Creek Cabin features a fully equipped gourmet kitchen (Wolf gas range/oven, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Dacor microwave), lower level wet bar/microwave, washer and dryer, AC, stereo system (with CD collection), TV/DVD player (with movie collection), telephone (free long distance), two gas fireplaces (upstairs/downstairs), two charcoal grills (Weber and Green Egg), firepit and free Wi-Fi high-speed internet service. The cabin offers a contemporary yet cozy feel with knotty pine walls and cabin-style furniture and decorations.
Our guests may use, free-of-charge, a 17-foot Old Town Penobscot canoe, four kayaks, and adult and kids mountain bikes. Our 30-foot long boat dock is the perfect spot to park your boat for the weekend (electricity at the dock), and it is only 300-yards away from the Hay Creek boat landing.
Nearby Attractions: Hay Creek Cabin is located near several northwoods restaurants, such as the Robin's Nest (great for breakfast), the Chippewa Inn, and Treeland's.. It’s also within minutes of two bait and tackle shops, and nearby marinas (to rent a boat, pontoon or jet ski for the weekend). For golfers, there's the nearby Big Fish Golf Club (public), and for those who like to challenge themselves at the slots and blackjack tables, the LCO Casino is just 10 minutes away. The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and Lumberjack Village located in Hayward, offer hours of fun for the entire family during the summer months.
Shopping: For those who love to shop, downtown Hayward offers numerous clothing, decorating and gift shops, including Tremblay’s candy shop. About 15 minutes north of Hayward is Cable, a quaint town known for its restaurants, gift shops and arts community.
Bedrooms: Comfortably sleeps about eight people (or three couples/separate rooms for each). Upstairs master bedroom (queen bed), upstairs guest room (two twin beds), upstairs living room (pull-out double sofa bed), downstairs guest room (queen bed), two fold-out cots, and a large couch could located downstairs.
Bathrooms: Three bathrooms. Upstairs master bath (shower only). Upstairs guest bath (jacuzzi-style tub; no shower). Downstairs bath (shower only).
Dining: Rustic wood table with seating for six persons located on upstairs mainfloor, with additional seating for four more people at large kitchen island. Outside: Two picnic tables located on deck with seating for 8 people.
Guest Party Size Policy: We limit the size of guest parties that stay at Hay Creek Cabin to no more than 8 persons. We recommend no more than three couples so each couple has a private room.
Smoking Policy: No smoking inside Hay Creek Cabin.
Pet Policy: Dogs allowed only. No other types of pets. Dog kennel for a large dog is provided. No more than two dogs. $25 for each dog to stay.
Summer Rates: Summer 2020 weekly rate is $2,250/week + Wisconsin state sales tax (5.5%).
MINIMUM STAYS: From Memorial Day to Labor Day, we rent on a 7-night minimum stay (Saturday to Saturday). Check-in time is 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. the following Saturday. During the rest of the year, we have a 3-night minimum stay at $325/night + Wisconsin state sales tax (5.5%).
Deposit: $250 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your stay.
Payment: Personal check preferred. Full payment must be received 30 days prior to rental date to obtain access to cabin.
