This beautiful period property is set in a lovely spot just a moment from the beach at Selsey. The cottage is Grade II listed and dates back to 1806. Originally a farm cottage, it was at one time a sweet shop and the original toffee hook is still in place in the living room. The house has been carefully renovated making it comfortable and modern while still retaining its charm.
Arriving at the property through the 5-bar gate there is plenty of parking two cars. The garden is mature, sunny and has a lovely cottage feeling to it with seating areas where you can enjoy a glass of wine on the sunny summer evenings. There is a flint building where guests are welcome to store their bikes.
Entering the house through the side door in the garden into the kitchen. The kitchen has everything you would need to comfortably self cater for your stay including, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, and microwave, the oven is electric with a 4 ring gas hob. There is a cosy beamed sitting room with a log burner (the hosts will provide logs for your first night stay during the winter months) and plenty of seating for relaxing in the evening and a dining area.
Upstairs there is a cosy double bedroom and a master bedroom with king size bed. The family bathroom is accessed through the master bedroom and has a bath and separate shower. There is also a separate WC on the ground floor.
The beach at Selsey is literally only a minute's walk from the front door and there are excellent walks along the beach as well as fishing, for which the village is renowned. There is a good selection of village shops and for more extensive shopping, Chichester lies about nine miles to the north. Selsey has its own golf course and is within easy driving distance of the courses at Chichester and Goodwood. There is very good sailing in the nearby villages of Itchenor and Bosham. The Downs are just to the north of Chichester and the many attractions at Goodwood are with half an hour's drive. These include horse racing and the Revival Meeting along with the Festival of Speed. Chichester also has a world famous Festival Theatre. This location, which enjoys some of the best weather in the U.K. is a great destination for people requiring a quiet break or an active holiday, with lots of museums to visit (including the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton), the Spinnaker Tower at Portsmouth and Polo at Cowdray. The South Downs offer beautiful scenic walks and panoramic views and in addition to the beach at Selsey, there is an excellent sandy one at West Wittering.
