Swimming, fishing kayaking just steps down from back door on the north fork of the Gunnison river. Somerset is a historic mining town nestled between the Flat Tops and the Gunnison National forest. Vintage 1960's decor with a sleeper sofa and twin beds in the basement for extra sleeping. Located at a nice elevation of 6200 feet that's not too high, with a swamp cooler and ceiling fans to keep you cool all summer.

Summary: Nearest services abt 20 min Coal train whistle at night. Pros: horse shoe game, View, Good location, Home crafted kitchen and bath cabinets, Wood floors. Grass in fenced backyard. Rose bushes in bloom. I Plenty of parking. Evaporative cooler works well! Cons: Leak in sink/dishwasher drain. Owner showed no interest in correcting. Exterior door to basement does not latch - house not secure. dryer does not heat. There was a clothes line Master bathroom tub shower valve faulty -- not enough of the water pressure to the shower. We showered in the main bathroom shower. Main bath showerhead fixed, could not swivel. Turning on water caused water to spray outside of shower, or to spray self with cold water. It was difficult to wash lower portions of the body. A handheld shower would be appropriate The stairs are uneven -- insufficient lighting means that it is dangerous to traverse the stairs. Living room window blind has no string to control raising and lowering Top bunk too close to ceiling in basement - could only be used by a small child. Chair in 2nd bedroom has a hole in the woven seat Sliding glass door has no screen Dish drainer has no base Heard rodents in the walls. Slats on twin bed in master bedroom too far apart. Wand for vertical blind on sliding door doesn't stay on Broken mini blind slats. Tape on handrail outside sliding door left sticky residue on the hand. 2nd bedroom door sticks, difficult/noisy to open. Master bedroom mini blind was broken. Needs fly swatter, laundry basket, newer bed linens (preferably cotton, not polyester), tea kettle, colander, potato masher, cheese grater, dish towels, better shower caddy in main bath (It kept shifting, sending all of the contents to the shower floor.) Wasp nests in eaves of porch. We had one member of our party who is severely allergic to wasp stings, so she had to take great care. Bathroom mat in main bathroom soaks through to wood floor Circuit trips when both microwave and evaporative cooler are used Evaporative cooler has nothing to indicate the various settings Pillows lumpy. Need larger bed in the 2nd bedroom., Need UNscented detergent on towels. Many people are very sensitive to scents. One member of our party has this sensitivity and nearly had an asthma attack from wiping her face on a strongly scented towel. (The nearest hospital is over an hour away.) Soaps that are unscented or lightly scented. Back gate doesn't close well
