Welcome to our scenic and peaceful mecca in Stowe, Vermont! We are seeking monthly rentals (28-day minimum), with a minimum of 4 months combined for December 2023 through March of 2024 (during peak ski and snowboard season). Guests with multiple positive reviews will be considered. As you travel our quiet, private lane passing a historic dairy barn and scenic mountain views, you will know you have arrived at Vermont at its finest. Located just 10 miles from Spruce Lodge and Stowe Mountain Resort, our private 5-acre wonderland is an oasis of peace and tranquility just moments away from Stowe's world class skiing, snow boarding, snowshoing, fat biking, ice climbing, ice skating, hockey, and sledding. There is a "back way" to the ski mountain from our home (traveling along Edson Hill Road) that avoids all of the Mountain Road from the Village to the Round Hearth Lodge (where Edson Hill Road intersects the Mountain Road), The "back way" alleviates travelling more than half of the Mountain Road on your way to Spruce Lodge and Stowe Mountain Resort, so this location is perfect skiers and snowboarders. Cross-country and back country skiers can use an unorganized trail out the back door of this home to connect to organized trails in Sterling Valley, including the Catamount Trail. In addition, the home is just 3 miles away from Stowe Village, a shopper's paradise featuring locally-owned, unique shops nestled among first class restaurants, breweries, bistros, and coffee shops. Within walking distance of the Village are the library, Helen Day Art Center (now called Current), art galleries, public sledding hill, year-round public ice skating and hockey arena, 5-mile Recreation Path, indoor swimming pool, ski and bike rentals, and more. Stowe also features a family-friendly bowling alley with restaurant and bar, an indoor public swimming pool with a fun slide for kids, extensive hiking and biking during the summer and fall, and many other cultural and recreational activities. This contemporary, sun-filled, Victorian is owned and built by a well-known Stowe craftsman and woodworker off a picturesque and quiet dead lane in one of Stowe's most exclusive and sought-after locations. Filled with custom cabinets, cherry furniture, books, games, and a fully stocked kitchen, this warm and comfortable home has all you need for a fun, relaxing, and peaceful winter or summer stay. From the front porch and the first and second floors, you will be surrounded by mountain, forest, and garden views with not a building in site. The home is fully equipped for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The first floor features a: large kitchen with adjacent dining room; comfortable living room with a fireplace and mountain views; den with a fireplace, two desks for telecommuting or school work, and a flat screen internet TV; quaint powder room/half bath; spacious "mud room" back entry; and a lovely front porch overlooking the expansive front yard and views of the Worcester Mountains to the south and east. The large kitchen and dining area provide a sunny and comfortable place to cook and entertain with additional amenities including a wooden dining table that comfortably seats 4 to 6, plate ware and stemware for 6+ and extensive cook ware. The second floor features a large, sun-filled primary suite featuring a memory foam Queen Bed, sitting area in the turret, separate dressing area, and ensuite bath with custom cherry cabinets, custom walk-in glass shower, and a beautiful marble floor. Across the hall are two guest bedrooms - one with dramatic mountain and night sky views and a queen memory foam bed and cozy electric fireplace; and one with a full bed, custom twin bunkbed, custom desk, and a flat screen internet TV. All bedding and linens are top quality and each bed includes two or more pillows per guest. A detached two-car garage and parking area provide plenty of parking and storage space for skis, ice skates , sleds, outer ware, bikes, etc. This home is ideal for a quiet, non-smoking, pet-free, mature individual or a couple with children or grandchildren ages 5 and up. This is a quality home, not a typical ski rental. It is not the place for large, boisterous parties, "keggers," etc. For winter rentals, snow plowing of the driveway is included in the rental fee. The shoveling of the front and back walkways is not. A snowblower and two snow shovels await use in the garage. Guests are responsible for removing all trash and recycling from the garage. The transfer station / recycling center is convienently located off the Mountain Road (on "Dump Road"), basically behind AJ Ski Shop and Rimrocks Tavern. Cash or checks are accepted for the nominal waste management fee charged when you drop off materials at the transfer station. For monthly rentals, guests are required to pay our housekeeper by cash or check an estimated $250 (depending on whether the housekeeper cleans linens and towels in addition to completing standard cleaning) every other week, typically on Tuesdays. This is in addition to other fees showing on this website. Using our housekeeper is a requirement because she knows our home already, is very thorough, and is an honest and reliable person who has been with us for years. We will be the primary contact for any property-related issues that may arise during your stay. However, we have a local property manager who can come over to assist (upon our request), if needed.
