Majestically positioned atop a commanding bluff overlooking Cape Cod Bay and Wellfleet Harbor, this very private property's nearest neighbor is almost a half mile away. Yet you can drive to the intriguing shops and restaurants of Wellfleet Village in less than five minutes. Also close by: the throwback Wellfleet Drive-In, the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and historic Marconi Station.
Though you do not have direct access to the beach from the house, it's just a 3 minute walk to the south to reach the expansive bay beach. The Great Island trails, easily accessible off Chequessett Neck Road, follow miles of sandy stretches between the elevated heights of Great Island and Great Beach Hill.
But you won't need to walk anywhere to see unforgettable sunsets. Just look out the window. The views from this house are, of course, spectacular. Choose your favorite vantage point from among the myriad of decks wrapping around the house, perhaps most notably from the walk-up cupola belvedere, which provides the most elevated perspective of all. Virtually every room in the house offers its special version of the stunning nautical vistas.
Inside, this one-of-a-kind retreat sets forth more than 5,500 square feet of elegant, yet casual living space on three levels. Custom features include birch shiplap walls and ceilings, reclaimed heart pine flooring, custom tile work and white oak ceiling beams.
The first floor consists of two beautiful big queen bedrooms and two generously sized full baths. One bedroom with 2 Queen beds. One bedroom with 4 Queen beds (2 sets of bunk beds) and 1 Twin single.
The main level is the home's show piece. Here you'll find the immense kitchen with adjoining walk-in pantry and bar, the enormous dining table with seating for a dozen guests, a family room, den and sunroom, all with comfy lounge seating, satellite/smart TVs and captivating water views. The sunroom features a telescope so you can get a closer look at activities on the bay.
The kitchen is every bit as functional as it is big and beautiful. It has three primary surfaces. The two ten-feet long side islands offer padded high boy seating for eight. The equally expansive center island is home to a second sink and custom cabinets and drawers occupied by every cooking and serving implement and vessel imaginable. The induction range top is located two steps away from the center island.
At first glance, there appears to be only one full size refrigerator – until you discover the multiple under counter half-size fridges, refrigerated beverage centers and large ice maker. And if you need still more space for perishables, you'll find it a few steps down from the kitchen where the gigantic commercial size refrigerator lives.
A short hallway leads from the kitchen to the primary bedroom suite with its own balcony and 180-degree water views. The king size bed is both a great place to sleep and an exceptional piece of custom cherry furniture. The main full bath is also oversized and features a roomy soaking tub in addition to the giant step-in shower.
A half flight of stairs leads up to the third level, where you'll find the two other bedrooms, both with king beds and private full baths en suite. There's also a study/work space on this level.
In all the home has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half baths. There is central air conditioning, of course, as well as high speed Wi-Fi and smart/cable TV.
