This rustic cabin was originally part of the CCC camp that built the dam for Lake Isabel in the 1930's and sits just a few yards from the beautiful mountain lake.
This cabin sleeps 6 with 2 large bedrooms - 1 with a King bed and 1 bedroom with 2 double beds.
The main area is a great room with kitchen, dining room table, and living room with fireplace. The kitchen is fully stocked with most cooking pots, pans, and utensils.
You are within walking distance to gorgeous hikes, fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking,...anything on the lake without a motor. In the winter, you can snowshoe on the hiking trails and this lake is great for ice fishing. There is also snowmobiling trails nearby.
We are at 8,500' in elevation. Be prepared for changing weather conditions. Cell service is spotty depending on your carrier. We try and provide good wifi so you can connect to your wifi calling, check emails, and post on social media, but be prepared to enjoy nature, see the stars, and disconnect.
The Lodge at San Isabel has a long history. The dam for Lake Isabel was started in 1936 and completed in 1939. Upon completion, the dam was reported to be the largest earthen dam in the world. This area was also designed and created to be one of the first recreational areas in Colorado. In those early days, the Lodge at San Isabel was the mess hall for the CC camp workers. Today people from all over the world visit Lake San Isabel for camping, fishing, backpacking, biking, canoeing, wildlife viewing and picnicking. Our summer temperatures of 80 degrees and cool evenings you will be able to explore the Wet Mountains and the 1.6 million acres San Isabel National Forest and Wilderness area. With 300 days of annual sunshine and breathtaking mountain landscapes the high country of Southern Colorado playground. It's a great place to get away from it all to spend time with family and friends.

You can purchase your fishing license at The Lodge general store right across the street.
