Summary: We loved our stay in this chalet which is located high in the mountains just above the pretty village of Salvan and 10 minutes drive down to the town of Martigny. The chalet offers simple accommodation with one double bedroom and one bedroom with a single bed and two bunk beds. There is a shared bathroom and living room/ kitchen area on the same level. The kitchen is well equipped and fully functional. A balcony offers stunning views. On the lower level is a bathroom and shower and an outside area equipped with tables, chairs, benches and sunshades to allow great al fresco dining again with stunning views. From Salvan you can catch the Mont Blanc express to Chatelard where you can take the worlds steepest funicular and then miniature train ride to the Emorsson dam with perhaps the best views of Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc express goes on to Chamonix and beyond. Within a half hour drive you can visit thermal baths at Lavez or Saillon, the worlds largest subterranean lake at St Leonard or extensive salt mines at Bex. Within an hour you can reach the Grand St Bernard pass, Verbier, Chamonix, Visp (where you can get the train to Zermatt and then higher to view the Matterhorn and many of the highest peaks in the Alps) and many other picturesque mountain villages. Valais is an amazing place.
