The Grey Stone Flat is on the first floor of a 2 flat in beautiful Oak Park. Our first floor unit has 2 bed rooms, one bath, living room with a decorative fireplace, dining room and eat in kitchen. Off of the kitchen is a large private back porch over looking a secure fenced yard. Located in the historic village of Oak Park and just minutes east of the Frank Lloyd Wright Studio and Home which is also on Chicago Avenue. Oak Park is noted internationally for its historic architecture with styles including Queen Anne, Prairie School and Colonial Revival. Oak Park is know particularly as the home of Frank Lloyd Wright from 1989 to 1909, and holds the largest concentration of Prairie School Architecture in America including 25 designs by Wright. On another note Oak Park is also the birth place of the famed writer Ernest Hemingway. and home to the Hemingway Museum.
Oak Park has a wonderful down town with one of a kind shops and restaurants. The public transportation is amazing with the Blue and Green Line elevated trains as well as the Metra which takes you to the heart of Chicago with in 15 minutes.

Summary: This is a nice place to stay and be within .7 miles off of the main shopping district in Oak Park. It has garage parking and an easy check in process; we even had a welcome basket of food and dog treats! The unit itself was quiet and had a small backyard for early morning dog walking (its a shared space, but we only saw the other people once in passing). There are a couple reviews on here that would make it seem like this place is run down and unlivable ... I found this irritating because we depend on honest reviews to make our location decisions and they were wildly inaccurate. I'm sure the property was built in the late forties and maybe there were a couple things I would fix if I lived there, but it was very nice inside and we even had family over for coffee and they agreed. Bottom line is, unless you're staying with the intention of running a white glove over every art frame on the wall to look for dust, you'll love this place. We also had great communication with William and he was pleasant ansd easy to work with. The only thing to be aware of is that there is a Keurig (there's also a toaster over), not a regular coffee pot.
