Rio Muchacho Organic Farm and Eco-lodge offers a unique and ecologically friendly haven for guests to stay, relax, and explore. Our bungalow-style accommodation was constructed entirely from local materials, and we try to prepare all our meals using fresh fruits and vegetables harvested from our own grounds. Unwind in our Meditation Garden, spend time investigating the farm's abundance of plant and animal life, or choose from an array of guided tours. Experience coastal Ecuador in a tranquil setting far removed from the typical tourist track. Harvest fresh organic ingredients and prepare a traditional tonga lunch. Horseback ride to a monkey forest, then make your own chocolate. Learn about agroecology and permaculture, then contemplate sustainable living while enjoying a medicinal clay face mask. We offer both guided and self guided activities for our day visitors, as well as mutli-day cultural and adventure packages. In our Yoga & Meditation garden next to the river Muchacho you can relax, meditate or practice yoga anytime. Surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds you will feel peaceful instantly. We have a craft workshop where we create unique jewelry from vegetable ivory or make bowls and spoons from the mate gourd, and lots more! On our self-guided tour you are given a map of the farm which corresponds to our marked spots all around the farm. We have a space for children to play in our park! Equipped with swings, climbers and other play equipment.
At the end of the day, chill out in the hammocks all around the farm! Please note: the food is mainly vegetarian, but sometimes with fish, shrimp, or (rarely) white meats – no red meat is served.
Río Muchacho is 80 m above sea level and sits in a transition zone where the dry tropical forest and the wet tropical forest converge. It is heavily influenced by both the Humboldt and El Niño currents. Due to its location at the convergence of two ecosystems, it has a great variety of trees, plants, birds, animals, and insects from both the dry tropical forest and the wet tropical forest. The entrance to Río Muchacho is 7 km north of Canoa on the San Vicente-Jama Road on the mid coast of Ecuador. From the entrance from the main road, it is 7 km of unpaved road to the organic farm.
The farm has 7 different rustic cabins and rooms, accommodating from 1-12 people each, totaling a maximum of up to 35 people at once. Depending on courses and events, at any time there could be from 3 -50 visitors. The property offers shared and private rooms, some with private bathroom.
