Located in the prestigious Movie Colony neighborhood, walking distance to all that uptown and downtown have to offer, this solar-powered property features a 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom bohemian-modern house that embodies the Palm Springs luxury lifestyle. While the house showcases some of the city's historic architecture, the walled and hedged, Palm-tree filled backyard exemplifies the resort-style outdoor spaces Palm Springs is known for: At the center of the impressive, South-facing backyard is a 16' x 34' raised pool with tanning shelf and custom lounging cushions.Soak in the sun in one of the four teak chaise lounges along one end of the pool, or catch up with friends around a cushioned sitting area adjacent to a stone fire pit along the other. In a separate corner, a 9' x 12' spa with built-in cushions and 18 jets faces a stone outdoor fireplace and outdoor bar area. Two al fresco dining areas, cornhole boards, a sofa with matching chairs and four umbrellas complete this one of a kind outdoor space.
The house offers luxurious amenities for 6 guests, including two master bedrooms with King beds and en suite baths.Originally built in 1934 by JCW and Wilberta Hinshaw—known for building Palm Springs' La Plaza Theatre and Shopping Centre —the original slumpstone and batten board house underwent a professional designer remodel, transforming it into an exquisite desert ranch with all the modern amenities you could ask for.
Through the entryway, a sweeping layout reveals itself that exudes eclectic, including modern, style with lavishly curated finishes that seamlessly transition into outdoor living through large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors.Exposed wood beams grace the high ceilings throughout the the home, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere under the glow of sunlight.
One one end of the formal living room is a full-length leather sofa and two stylish hanging chairs that frame a 65" tv. On the other are two chairs accented by fur,that face a glass-topped wet bar crafted with a natural finish and a live edge. A turntable, paired with Sonos speakers that are artfully placed throughout the home provide a full home listening entertainment experience.
Adjacent the living room is the spacious formal dining room. This room features a cozy sitting area with a velvet ottoman facing a decorative fireplace, a unique church pew bench, and a vintage church stained-glass window. A colorful stained-glass chandelier hangs above the dining room table that seats six.
An adjacent gourmet kitchen, designed with geometric patterned flooring, is equipped with high-end stainless steele appliances (including a wine refrigerator), marble countertops, chef's table for w and Le Creuset cookware for celebratory meals.
Hinshaw Hideaway's three bedroom suites are located in separate corners of the house allowing for maximum privacy. Endless comfort and luxury abound in each suite, including 2 large master bedrooms—one still nestled within the original thick slumpstone walls of the home. All three bedrooms boast private bathrooms, where guests can enjoy the elegant aroma of Aesop soap while drying off on soft Turkish cotton.
Master bedroom one, located off the East end of the living area, is styled in rustic, mid-century decor with wood-paneled walls, a king-sized bed and a 50th anniversary Herman Miller Eames rosewood and leather lounge chair and ottoman. This room also has a 55” flat-screen TV and a luxurious bathroom with marble walls and a soaker tub. The suite opens onto the backyard through floor to ceiling pocket doors, steps from a cushioned sitting area shaded by umbrellas.
Master bedroom two, located on the Northwest corner, is whimsically styled with a four-post, king-sized bed, an early California Monterey sofa and a decorative vintage TV. This room also has an en-suite bath and walk-in shower. A private door leads to the backyard.
The third bedroom, located in the Southwest corner, is styled in eclectic decor with a stained glass door, a Herman Miller Eames rocking chair and unique built-in desk. This bedroom has a queen-sized bed and en-suite bath with a walk-in shower.
